Meet Doug Hershberger

Doug Hershberger was born and raised in Sarasota, where his connection to painting began when he was five years old. After asking his father if he could help on a job, Doug received a bucket of water and a brush and was told to “paint” a wall. What began as a childhood task introduced him to the family trade.

Painting later became a dependable way for Doug to earn money throughout grade school and college. Those years gave him firsthand experience and allowed him to develop his skills gradually rather than entering the industry all at once. Today, he runs Hershberger Painting and continues the business founded by his father, Merlin.

As the current leader of the company, Doug helps guide its direction while remaining connected to the work that shaped his early years. His background gives him a practical understanding of residential and small commercial painting, along with the preparation and communication involved in planning each project.

Doug is married and has a six-year-old daughter. Their family also includes a seven-year-old cattle dog. Outside of work, he enjoys mental challenges, exercising, coaching others, and eating cheese curds. His favorite ways to spend his free time include traveling with his family and working toward his lifelong goal of becoming a farmer.
